The "Love Is Blind" Season 5 Reunion Is Coming This Weekend
It's been a very strange season of "Love Is Blind" — and probably not for the reasons producers wanted. Heading into the final episode of season five, there are only two couples left, and fans aren't exactly rooting for either. The drama between Lydia, Uche, and Aaliyah took up a lot of time this season, without any real resolution. Add in contestant Renee revealing that her entire courtship and wedding was cut, plus some bizarre makeup shaming, and fans have been left with a lot of questions. But on Oct. 10, Netflix announced that the "Love Is Blind" season five reunion special will air Oct. 15 — just two days after the final episode — and perhaps fans get answers then.
Season five, which is set in Houston, premiered on Sept. 22. Netflix also announced this summer that "Love Is Blind: UK" and "Love Is Blind: Sweden" will soon be available on the streamer, too.
"Love Is Blind" is Netflix's most prolific dating show, and it's responsible for quite a few real marriages. Two season one couples — Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton, and Amber Pike and Matt Barnett — are still together. Both season two marriages ended in divorce, but the two couples who tied the knot in season three are still married, as are all three couples who got married in season four.
The new season comes amid allegations from former "Love Is Blind" cast members, published by Business Insider in April, that conditions on set were abysmal and that they had no mental health support. Season two castmates Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson went on the record about their treatment by the show, which they alleged included ignoring mental health red flags. Kinetic Content, which produces the show, said in a statement per Variety at the time, "The wellbeing of our participants is of paramount importance to Kinetic. We have rigorous protocols in place to care for each person before, during, and after filming." A season five participant, Tran Dang, who was not featured in any episodes, is suing production companies Kinetic Content and Delirium TV over claims of sexual assault, false imprisonment, and negligence. "Love Is Blind" creator Chris Coelen told People on Oct. 6 that production was "never told that she felt unsafe or experienced any of the allegations that she made."
Ahead, here's what else to know about "Love Is Blind" season five.
